smog
Can a 89-91 JDM 13bt2 Pass CA Smog? Not planning on doing thing Outside of Replacing the Current Blown JDM with another. If it can't pass smog, it's sort of a waste. I know that the JDM don't have some of the emission stuff a USDM has and it also has a smaller smog pump. Can that stuf be added back to the engine?

It depends on how screwed up the converter is on the car right now. If it's toast so to speak, then you'll need another. Other than the JDM ACV not having a Split Air solenoid, they have the same functions. Split air is only for fifth gear times anyway and you don't have your car checked out in fifth gear. I'd bet the airpump is just as efficient as the USA cars. Just smaller in size.

As well, find someone with a pre-cat and put that on to help. Warm that son of a bitch up good before pulling it in. California smog is HELL to pass with a rotary.
Me? I would route my airpump into my cat. NZconvertable, or it may have been Hailers to me there was a way to pull the plunger on you acv unit, add some type of current to it, and this opens the port and allows your smog pump to pump air into your cat.
