you pull the "retracror" fuse so the headlights dont go up, just on. than you read under and manualy turn the headlight motors till they reach your desired "sleepyness" position. than leave it... visibility stays ok, but not the same. on some cars it looks good... on some it just doesnt.

I think that they look better when done in conjunction w/ removal of the FTP lenses. I used to rag on this look, but I may consider doing it when I get a FC again...

i tried sleepy eyes one night. visibility isnt really effected..

but i wasnt a big fan of the 'mod'.

for the record, you have to remove the fuse ON THE WAY DOWN, or else if you do it on the way up, one will be sagging lower than the other.

I don't understand why people do it because they think it makes the car look more agressive, and then call it sleepy eyes!

Personally I think it just makes the car look like another broken Mazda...

If you want a more AGRESSIVE "look" put two of those flame kits with a spark plug behind the FTP and remove them. Shoot some 4-6ft flames from each side. That will get it done.

anywyas the "mod" you can do by manuall lifting the lights. Check your haynes it should show you how.

yeah, it just looks the the headlight motors are busted, and the owner is too cheap to fix it.

Nex thing you know they will be popping the hood up in the back or adjusting the door jam bars so that the door sticks out a 1/2 inch (for better aerodynamics and cooling of the passengers compartment).

*Starts scratching head...* It does get pretty hot in there doesn't it...where are my tools! j/k

I agree, it makes that car look like they spent all the money on the PanSpeed front end and then the motors broke.

I think the “sleepy-eye” looks kind of lame during the day time. It may have been “neat” at one point but after the second person did it, it got old.

One thing I wanted to do was get a set of those low profile headlights (they are about 2” wide and round), and put a couple on each side then only making the headlights come up 2” or so at night.

I was over in Japan in June and was at a few drifting spots, and saw a few 180SX's and one FC with them. Personaly I like it, alot better than putting the black covers over the head lights or any sort of clear corners.

i think the lights all the way up looks ugly, like try sleepy lights for a week and then put the fuse back and the lights all the way up just look plain goofy.
no 2 ways about it

LOL...my thoughts exactly. I see them and think "Hmm...broken motor".
Acually you're putting more drag than helping. I wish I could afford the recessed lights.
The company that started the "sleepy eye" as you guys call it was started by a Japan company called Pivot.
The fad seems to start there and trickle to the rest of the world.

iv seen some cars with the lazy eye mod, i think it looks bad, looks like its borken. Especially when the light shines through the gaps in the body work.
