single to 4pot brakes

Can anyone help me do or find a writeup on how to do a complete swap from single to 4pot brakes? What to change, how tos and stuff? I did do a search. Maybe I didn't type in the correct words but if someone does find it, the link would be fine. no need for flaming. I AM a noob =\

I believe weve covered this topic fairly recently here in teh 2nd gen forum, past few days I believe. There may be a thread in teh faq, though its a straightforward process.

Remove old single pot fronts, old brakline, old dustshield. Reinstall larger dustshield from 4pot donor car, install rotor, install 4pot caliper, use 4pot cailpurs lines. thers more but my helping ran out when it hit 11....been up on 3 hours sleep since 6am

you don't really need the dust shield. I used th same one. All I swapped out was the calipers, pads, and the brake lines to the calipers. It's probly a good idea to resurface your rotors cause the pads on the 4pots are bigger. It's pretty much straight foward, and also get some brake fluid and a friend cause you'll need to bleed the brakes.

Is this a S4 4 lug? Or S5 Five lug?

If its a S5 five lug with single piston, yuo only need the caliper and new pads.. you use the same rotors and brake lines. Just swap out the caliper with the 4 pot, bleed the lines, and your done.

I just did the Swap from 4-5 Lug..with Brake Conversion.the whole 9 yards...But,I did not change the Master or Flex lines. My "new" system works just Fine...single piston in Rear, four Piston up front.Vented Rotors all the way around. It will bring the car back to Zero pretty Quickly..no comparision. It was worth the Swap.(car is a 86 ..with a 13b N/A..if that is any help at all.)

yup its all straight forward. on the S4 the 4lug rotor is thinner than the 5 lugs
i decided to rebuild my calipers while i was at it.
i swapped in the whole assembly, much easier for me i just took the three supporting bols in the rear and the large nut that holds onto the shaft.
in the front it was just the tie-rod en crown nut,
the ball joint screw on the bottom half of the rotor,
and the two bolts that screw the the strut.
pretty simply.

Alright. Thanks a lot guys. If I do decide to replace it (because it's hella rusted), do I just replace it? or is there any thing I have to do prior to removing or installing it?

Cool Rob, Make sure to keep us updated. Are you upgrading to 4pot from single on a 5lug also?
