signs of rebuild time
Well, I am new to RX-7's. I have been looking for a "good deal" for about 4 years. In that time I have completed several different project cars. I came across an 86 RX-7 that was hidden in the back of this small time dealership. It would not start becuase it was lacking a battery. I offered $200 to the owner and he took it. I pulled home a straight body car with no rust, good interior and an intact motor. All it needs is a little paint and engine work.
I fired it up and huge amounts of light blue smoke came out the back. I let it sit for a while and started it up again. Same thing. I also noticed that the engine temp gauge shot up. When I saw this, I immediately shut off the car.
I have heard that it may just be a "build up of crud" to me needing new oil seals. What is it? What is wrong with the car. I am not new to cars or engines, just new to rotaries.
Curious, how do I check rotary compression?
Thanks,
Rob

well you can take out the sparkplugs and turn it over by hand with a ratchet and when you hear bubble bubble bubble SPLASH and see about 2 cups of coolant come out the sparkplug holes thats a big sign of a rebuild there
