Side seal springs Q's

Does it matter if side seal springs are put in upside down? I think i did

I must have not read the haynes manual carefully enough and I put them end so the cream paint was facing up.

I assumed they would go in like apex seal springs where the ends would point up.

is it thta important for them to be right side up? hate to have to take the thing apart again :P

The ends should point up. Don't worry about the colors your seeing .. the ends need to be facing up.

technically the en dis supposed to be up, but I have installed them backwards(actually I didnt do it, but a friend here rebuilding his engine) and it has run fine for a long time. I have also taken apart cores that were apparently rebuild once before, and it had them backwards, with no problems. Really, as long as the spring si there, it'll do its job. no way Id open it back up.
