What adhesive is used to hold the side mirror glass in place? Is it just 3M double sided mounting tape or something else? Thanks.

 

It's some kind of white adhesive goop (silicone maybe?). I tried to soften it by using a blow drier and pry it off with toothpicks but ended up breaking the glass. Maybe I didn't heat it enough?

 

My adhesive failed on both sides after 23 years. Both sides failed within a week of each other! Bizarre. The glass didn't even break when they hit the ground.

Now I need to reattach them and wondering what others have used?
