Damn, such a hard one to troubleshoot. There's always the waterpump, and if that doesn't fix it, well then just start taking off belts till you only have the alt and the waterpump, and if it's still squeeling replace the damn alt, and if it's still squeeling find the damn squirrel that lives in your car and kick his ***!

My car is doing the same thing Amur! I took off all the belts to the accessories except for the alternator and it still made the same noise, so then I switched alts. Still did it! I'm going to be putting on a new waterpump soon and that better fix it; or like sonicrat said, I'm going to look for that ******* squirrel.

Well, if those don't fix it, then there's a chance it could be bad thrust bearings in the front cover, since it's only when you engage the clutch that they squeel, which would put pressure on them, though I doubt it. Manda: where's your sound coming from, same spot as his?

Okay, it isn't any of the belt-drive accessories. This past Saturday I took off the belts (including the alt,) one at a time, and tried to reproduce the shriek.
Even with no belts on the car, she shrieked. It's looking very much like it's something in the clutch setup.
