hey guys, just got my rex runnin and performed a compression test.

3-7.6 3-7.1
the engine pulls approx 19-20"vac @1400rpm idle according to my autometer gauge. are these good readings or bad????????

 

you should be getting 19-20" of vac at a NORMAL idle.
i would think having a 1400rpm idle would get you like 2-3" more vacuum.
i think you should have 18-20" of vac at 750 rpms, that sounds a little low for a 1400rpm idle.


i'm not sure about the compression numbers, but multiply those numbers by 14.7 since that reader measures in BAR.
lets say you got straight 7.8's (you have 7.8, 7.8, and 7.9) on the front rotor, that would be
114.6 psi on front rotor.
say straight 7.1's (you had 7.1, 7.1, and 7.2)on the rear rotor thats
104.4 on rear rotor.

 

those are decent readings. 120psi is brand new at sea level

 

yeah 120 is great, 104 is acceptable.
