Should I be worried?
I just started hearing this one noise the other day. It only happens when the car is in first gear(when I'm in traffic or any other REALLY low speed situation). I can actually hearing first gear winding up and down. I was never able to hear this. Should I worry? Noise#2 and Vibration#1....I just started hearing these about a few hours ago. I was on the Parkway doing my normal cruising speed(70-80). All of a sudden i feel the car start to vibrate a little. I slowed down. It didn't go away. It feels like it's coming from the back of the car. I feel it in the lower part of the driver's seat mostly(I'm guessing this cause I'm putting weight down on the car, duh me), but the then the whole car started to shake. Not violently, but enough to make me worry. About the other noise....It only seems to happen when I'm decelerating and the car is nuetral. When the car stops, it stops. PLEASE help me out people.....
P.S. Sometimes my car ABSOLUTELY refuses to go in to 1st or reverse...why? It goes into every other gear fine....

I've owned some older British sport cars, none of which had a fully syncronized first gear. Their first gear sounds just like what you are describing with your first gear. Perhaps the syncros have gone into the toilet on your first gear??? That where you need to start doing that double clutching into first gear. The vibration, I have no guess other than the driveshaft or the transmission , but this should bump you back to the top anyway.
Sounds like you have some gear freeplay somewhere. At least that would explain the vibration. I have heard quite a few 1st gens (I know... wrong forum) that made an audible vibration when the driveline is lax or "floating" as I call it. Also lots of time the problem trying to put the car into gear can be caused by a bad pilot bearing that causes the transmission input shaft to keep spinning even when the clutch is pressed in. Sometimes it's because the gears don't line up. If that's the case just leave it in neutral, lift off the clutch, press in the clutch, and try again. This allows the transmission to spin, perhaps allowing the gears to mesh correctly. These sound like symptoms of an older car. They can be delt with if you learn how. I just call them character. I had a GSL-SE that no one could drive because it had so many of these quirks, but I got around just fine. Check your fluids in your driveline and let me know if any of this helps.

P.S. How are your shifter bushings?
