should I go with 17" or 16"

hey guys I need some opinions. I have 16 inch konig v racing rims right now and i'm thinking of upgrading to 17's. My question is ...are 17's too big for an 88. I know they'll be heavier but will it decrease performance enough to justify staying with the 16's? What size do most of you guys run?

here my car with 16's enieki's probably would have gone with 17's but for 1000.00 cnd, with toyo proxies i decided it was too good to pass up. and since i'm goin to be lowering it about 1 and 3/4 inches it should give a good apperance

the konig absolutes kinda look similar to my rota circuit 8's.....i would say stick with 16's because the bigger the rim, the more unsprung weight you have to push to get the car moving......here is a pic of my rims....
