Should I buy or not?

I've found a 1988 TII in town here, everything looks with it except the dude pulled the engine bc it needed a rebuild(blown seals) and he tore the engine apart then just gave up. He said he has all the parts to the engine(I'm sure he lost some stuff though bc its been a couple years) and from what I inspected the tranny looks good. Now he's sellin everything for $800(oh btw he cut the wiring harness when he pulled the motor). What I'm wondering about is how much are rebuild kits for a TII engine I've seen them for $1400 on racingbeat.com but are there good rebuild kits for cheaper than that and do ya'll think its worth since I'll have to rebuild it and get another wiring harness? How much ya'll figure for all costs?

I would say go for it. Sounds like your planning on doing the work yourself, so if your really up for it, i think it would be more than worth it when all said and done.

I'm not sure about the harness, you might be able to fix it up.

Since he has the motor out you should check the rotors and housings for condition just to be sure. And get a list of all the parts your gonna need and make sure he still has them.

Do you think I could rebuild the engine myself, I'm no rookie mechanic I've rebuilt piston engines before but I've never worked on a rotary is it hard? If I can't fix the harness what should I do get a new or used one and how much would that run me?
