alright. so i found this 88 GXL for sale. the man said that he wuold sell it to me for $600-$700. the windshield has a crack on it. but the car looks perfect inside and out. theres about 140k on the motor. the only con/ problem was that he said it started or was running it and it started to smoke and it would not turn on. would it be worth buying? and yes, i know its common sense but would it also be worth buy or telling the man to buy parts to make it start first before buying it. just a simple spark plug and oil change?

 

what is your plans for the car? and what kind of money do you have to work with? that should be your main focus. wether the car runs good depends on you and your plans. anyway good luck.

 

well 1st you need a bit more info.....how bad was it smoking??
Did it just do it at start up??.
Well i would try and get the price down to about $500....downplay everything about the car to the owner obviously he doesnt want to deal with it or knows how to fix it!!

If you get a good deal like closer to $500 or under and if the things in goods shape and complete you can always part it out and most likely get your $$$$ back!!

Whatever it takes to get it running could be well over the 400$ you would have after buying the car.... How much smoke, what color of smoke, maybe pics of the thing? The last thing you want to do is to buy it and figure out you are over your head needing a rebuild on the thing.... unless that is what you intend on it the first place ( i would!!!)
