Shopping List for an SE to S5 TII conversion

Ok now I know a lot of you will be saying that its a waste of money and whatnot, but honestly I'm one of those people who likes a challenge. Ok I've got a basic list of things I need to get and I was wondering if I'm missing anything:

S5 TII enigne
ECU
Transmission
Flywheel
Rear end
drivetrain
LSD
ABS system
Pressure Sensor
wiring harness probably

Thats all I can think of, I know I'm missing something. I also plan on doing the four to five lug conversion as well, and of course all the little exterior pieces that make an S5 look like an S5. So if you all could help me out on this one I'd greatly apprechiate it.

Why not buy a microtech? That way you canbe ready to tune. You won't need the ECU and harness.

well he wants to add ABS as well to his 88 SE so he will be replacing every harness in the car.

As far as your friend, He would need to move all sorts of pins and plugs. The S4 front harness really doesn't plug into a S5 engine harness.

don't bother with the ABS....

you'll have a really hard time finding parts. and the ABS isn't worth it..

It'll be considerably easier to start with a S5 chassis. At least the interior and exterior are nearly the same, in addition to the cabin electronics.

Oh, forget the ABS. Most people remove it anyways.

You could also do a S5 conversion to the body and interior (painted side moldings, interior change, etc.) and just use a S4 TII engine.

Or, you could just buy a TII and be done with it.

Why an S5 TII engine? Just wondering...

I would go for the S4 TII engine instead... The difference is not significant when you plan to mod the engine. Plus, S4 TII engines are more easier to find IMHO and easy to get parts for.

Oh, for the list, don't forget the downpipe and exhaust setup.

But expect at least 4-5 grand, if not more for your S5 conversion.

Well an SE is a big leap. I have a SE and just quit on that one.

Try to find a 88 GTU and you'll be set. It's a TII without the turbo. Already have the 4 pistons and suspension.

I don't have ABS but then again I don't want it. I like locking them up. Hehehehe

You'll still need the rearend though, or maybe a custom driveshaft. That's one thing I don't like.

I already have the LSD but it won't mate to a TII driveline.

I was thinking of doing a conversion but I don't have the money or time. So a TII looks like the way but most are in need of a rebuild by now.

I'm trying to find a way to get a third gen now. Cause they end up having less miles.

the whole dash thing is actually funny, I plan on doing a mod I've wanted to do for a while. I'm gonna take aftermarket gauges and fit them where the stock gauges were, I realize ill need to do some sizing but I like the setup and i think its just wasted space to put a boost gauge somewhere else where there is a perfectly good place right there. Anyways </rant>
