shifter system interchange s4/s5
I have already searched but I have a question:
I have an 86' S4 & I have replaced the shifter bushings (upper and lower (white and blue) with springs)
While this greatly improved shift quailty, it still has room from improvement.
My question is this,
Can the S5 shift block with the white bushing insert and the S5 shift lever which allows for a white bushing in its groove be used on an S4 transmission?
The S4 transmission does not incorporate bushings, it has a metal touching metal system for both the ball in socket shift block design as well as the groove in the shift lever.
Please, if you haven't taken an S4 & S5 shifter apart and don't understand what I am talking about don't reply as you will confuse other people as has happened in the threads I have already read. The S4 transmission lacks these 2 main bushing parts from the factory regardless of what you may think. The S5 RX7 revision added these two bushings.
