Shifter rebuild?

Can you rebuld just the shifter or is it the trans/syncros that would need rebuilding?

Im having a hard time going from first to second and second to third, its really stiff and kinda crunchy almost, i know the center springs are shot on the left side which doesnt help at all, but the gateway on third seems huge and it just wont go smoothly.

Any ideas how i could remedy this annoying issue?

You can replace the shifter bushing if the stick is real sloppy, but if you are having problems getting into gear when you are sure you are in the right spot you will need to pull the trans. Have you made sure it is full of fluid?

Pop the shifter surround off,and get a 10mm and take the 3 Bolts out.you can then just Pull straight UP and the shifter should Pop out.The shifter should have a bushing above the BIG pivot ball, and One below it,most likely Sitting In the HOLE.If you don't see Shifter Bushings then you know you need them Replaced..GO to www.Mazdatrix.com and Find The Sec Gen Parts,Particularly the the short shifter Section..ah ****..HERE! http://www.mazdatrix.com/g4.htm That will show you some of the Bushings and where they are..IT "sounds" like they are Shot,so that is why you are getting some Second to third Slop..Good luck and I hope the info helps..STYX.
