Shifter console keeps popping out pics inside!

1991 GTX

My shifter console keeps popping out when I shift. I think I narrowed it down to the area circled in red... what am I missing there?

make sure the area that receives the clips is not broken, and also you can try to expand the clips to that they will fit snug in the holes.
The clips are what holds the shifter surround down on the center console. If they do not go in then it would tend to pop out/off and do what you say it is doing.

You're not missing anything in the circled areas.

As misterstyx69 said, expand the clips. Maybe you're not even getting the clips all of the way into the slots.

hm I already tried ajusting/expanding the metal clips, I guess I will try again.

Are you guys sure? There are some sort of inserts (2) right below the ashtray and right above where the top metal clips sit..

take a pic of where the shifter surround sits...and post it.
Yes I am sure,I changed 5 interiors out,and parted out more cars than I can shake a stick at!
Is the center surround( the radio surround) screwed in,behind the ash tray? That may not allow it to sit right,if it isn't secure.

You should probably trim the shifter boot a little. See if the extra part hanging down is preventing the surround from being popped in all the way.

Actually, is the shifter boot even long enough? Is the boot stretching out when you shift, then pulling the surround up?

Those cylindrical figures that you circled fit into the slots on the center counsole to keep it from gaping. It just keeps the consistent flow of the center interior without looking like a complete turd designed it.
