shifter bushings

Is the shifter normally very tight after you replace the bushings ? How about that spring? Does the spring just sit to the left of the ball? Thanks guys.

Yes, it's really tight at first, but it'll loosen up in a few days of shifting, mine was the same way.

Had mine changed at a shop....and it was not tight at all. Very slick with no vertical movement, but much more positive gear engagement.

Sorry I can't comment on the 'spring'.

while we are on the subject of shifter bushings.... mine are bad, but would that effect the spacing of the gear shifter? i have to go into neutral to go to second because when i pull it staight back, it locks in first....

Unless you want to excessively wear the new bushings, loosen the three bolts up a bit so the shifter feel is not so tight, then gradually tighten them over time as the bushings wear...
