shifter all jacked up, help anyone?

Looking for help.

Anyone have experience with the manual tranny shifters. My car is an 86. The housing is broken (plastic outer shell attached to the dash and radio).

The only thing holding the shifter in place is the last bolt on the very bottom. There is supposed to be 3 but 2 are missing. I remove it and can just pull up the entire shifter out of the oil thing (pardon my ignorance) from top of tranny. there is a lot of play (loose). i can lift the shifter about half an inch and wiggle it around.

is there a rebuild kit or a fix kit.

Rob

Go to http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/shiftbsh.htm, replace all the bushings, replace the missing bolts, replace the broken trim.

or you can call Rotary Performance in Garland TX ask for Chris and get them there to. I think if you are Huston that there is a place called Alamo Performance that also works on RX7

Can anyone help me buy those from Mazdatrix? I can't seem to find how much they cost.
I need both the Top bushing and the bottom right?
Thanks!

Hey, my car had the same problem. I bought the MAZDASPEED shortshifter and all problems went away. It comes with all the new bushings and bolts. Oh yeah, it is short as hell too. I can't wait to try it when I get my new motor in.
