well. depends .. as s4 is vac modulated .. s5 is electronic shift

After trying faq , all links for s4 fsm are down . the hard drive on my computer is fried where I had the FSM , so now I can't look at it anyone got a dig copy ?

No 4th shift either . What is the electronic device next to the modulatoe valve ?

Anyone have in depth experience with autos for the s4 ? I have a complete T2 with 5 speed , I dont have the time for the 5speed conversion yet however . Dailying the s4 na until my a4 doesnt cost me 180+ a week to drive

after unplugging the solenoid at shift at the proper ranges . how the solenoid affect shifting other than the kickdown on full throttle

sounds like the kickdown valve inside the trans valve body is stuck partially open. This can cause the issue you are having.
