She's a very cool car...
In the midst of running errands earlier this week, I was walking up to my FC and used the remote starter to fire her up. It was below freezing out, and she was putting out a good dose of steam from the tailpipes.
Well, on this particular afternoon something a little odd happened. Every few seconds she'd blow out a ring or two. Steam rings instead of smoke rings.
Don't ask me to explain it - I can't. But it was damn cool to watch and made me smile.
Anyone else ever notice this?

Well, no blown coolant seals here. For all I know, she does it every time she's started. I always use the remote starter so normally I'm nowhere near close enough to the car to notice if it's happening or not...

you say you use the remote starter... do you have a standard? if you do, then how did it work? do you just put it in neutral the whole night?

I installed a remote starter on a buddys accord 5-speed and it works fine but you gotta have it in neutral. You really aren't supposed to install them on 5-speeds but it works.

they do make remote starters for standard transmissions. there is nothing wrong with leaving the car in neutral, there is something know as a "parking brake". for the standard transmission remote start you have to pull up the parking brake, pump the brakes twice, remove your key (the car continues running), get out of the car, and close the door. after you do all that the car turns off. all of this is done to make sure it is safe to start the next time you hit the button.
or you can just install an alarm made for an automatic and not hook up the "Park" Safety switch. which i would never recommend.

i know there is a parking brake... but i've had two friends who BOTH have had their car roll down a hill and hit a car/curb pretty hard, because all they used was a parking brake and didn't put it in gear.
their line snapped.

Which is why I crank the wheel to either the left or right when I park in case that happens. So she'll put herself into a fence or a bush instead of something more expensive.

Thats why my cars cant have remote start - my driveway is on an incline (not much of one, but enough that if shes not in gear and Im not holding the brake it will roll down pretty fast). I wouldn't trust my parking brake that much.
