several questions

one thing i have noticed about my car is that if i am going down the highway in fifith at about 80 or so and i punch it the boost will almost go to 10psi. but if i downshift to thrid and punch it it will go to 7psi till 6k then almost to 5psi to whatever i shift at. is that ok? my car has a hks downpipe and catback exhaust.
i just talked to kid who had my car(89 tII) before me and he said he turned the boost down by turning a screw on the wastegate. is this possible? and if so can i adjust it so that the boost is more towards where it shoould be? also is there any way to check if there is an aftermarket computer in the car ? the shopp that did the work doesnt remember. my car has a jspeck motor with about 18k on it noow. thanxz

Well the more of a load you have on the car the higher the boost..so the higher the gear you are in the more boost it will make..for example: there is more boost at 5th gear than at 3rd gear.
But 10 psi is about as much as you want to go with no fuel mods..actually it is right on the edge..I wouldnt run over 8 psi myself..with no fuel mods.

One more thing is if you hit 10 psi there should have been fuel cut to the rear rotor. Makes me wonder if there is a fuel cut defencer installed on the car.

So I would worry about turning the boost down and keeping it controlable before you blow the motor. If you run or spike to 15 psi with no fuel mods..keep doing it for a week or two..then it will need another motor. I am NOT trying to be a dick and i also do not know how much you know about rotary engines but I just DON'T want you to screw up your engine.

As far as the wastegate question. You didn't say if it was the stock turbo or not. The wastegate is what controls how much boost you make. As far as i know you cant really control the wastegate on the stock turbo..or control it without worrying about making to much boost and popping the motor. I think there are ways to control the wastegate on the stoack turbo but i dont know if they are accurate. So the kid told you the right department by saying he messed with the wastegate..but as far as there being a screw to adjust with i dont know.

I dont know how to check to see if it has a aftermarket computer in it.

you probably have a boost controller that he turns. however if you are only running 7 is 3rd it's not turned up to high. which means you are not going to be able to turn down the 10psi in 5th cause that's just creep

the kid also told me that he had the fuel injectors sent off to be ported and miked. if my car were to have some sort of fcd or computer mod where would i check to see if the area is still stock or if there is aftermarket stuff there? my car still has stock turbo and all that. why does the boost drop once i hit 6k rpms? is it supose to do that? should i do the fuel pu mp rewire? also should i do the tb mod? and if so which one i have found a couple of digfferent write ups on it. can i do the tid mod with the emissions stuff? is there anytrhing else i can do? besides save up for a haltech or something(which i am in the process of) .
