series 5 walbro fuel pump install
Im trying to install the fuel pump, i already broke the filter pivot off (oops...) but i cant find the spacer anywhere, The big boot which goes into the top of the pump does NOT secure as nearly as tightly as the stock pump. What gives? does it not need to be in there as tight as possible..?
Plz help...car disabled till i complete installation

This should'nt be that hard. It takes all of 20 mins to do. If you are speaking of where the actual pump fits into the rubber sleeve at the top, make sure you remove the hard o-ring from the sleeve, if it did not come off with the pump. Then use the new one supplied in the kit. Push the pump up snugly and install the rubber pad/spacer on the bottom and tighten up the bottom bracket. The orginal + and - wires wire cut to remove the plug end. Using the crimp connectors supplied, attched the new + and - wires and connect to the proper posts on the fuel pump. It is kind of freaky to think that both + and - are just crimped, but they will not short across in the gasoline even though they are exposed.

The whole time i wasnt using the hard spacer to put the other fuel pump back on...
I found it on my driveway, and then i tried it and got it to work, but boy do i feel like an idiot.
Thanks for the response, i got the install in my head now. another learning experience
