Are Series 4 & 5 Radiators Different

I've got an '88 Series 4 Turbo and I need a new Radiator. Are the series 4/5 radiators the same? Or does the Series 5 require much modification to go into a s4?

Thanks

How much you looking to spend? I'm not sure on your question, but if you have a little cash I'd spring for an aftermarket rad with an electric fan.

I'm going to sell the car soon so i'd prefer to get something cheaper than will just keep the engine at normal temp. I looked at an aftermarket rad but the cheapest I could find was ~US$ 400

There are three different radiators, the 86-87.5, the 87.5-88, and the 89-92.

The all have the same main rad hose mounts, but different layouts for overflow, bleed, and rad cap locations.

so you could interchange the worng one, but you might have to re-route overflow lines

In other words, there are no cooling benefits.

If you are putting an S5 radiator in an S4, you will need the S5 brackets. That's your only concern really. The 3k RPM switch/sensor won't thread into the S5 radiator, but you can just leave it off and tape up the wires and it's not a problem.

the "aftermarket performance" rads are...

aftermarket stock ones should be 100-200.
