Series 4 & 5 fuel pump interchangable?

Is the series 4 and 5 fuel pumps interchangeable? Or is there a difference? I want to put a series 5 fuel pump in my 87 series 4.

I don't know the difference, but most places I've seen sell separate pumps. Does the 89-91 flow better or something? I've heard good things about the Walbro pump. About as cheap as a stock replacement (not from Mazda though!!)

I believe they are the same flow rate, the only difference is that the s4 pump is connected to the hard metal line(the line that acutally comes out off the tank) with a regular hose and clamp, where as the s5 and fd uses a hose with an o-ring. There would be no reason to use the s5 pump, unless your s4 pump was bad.

It's not a direct drop in, but you can "make it fit".
