To sell my first Rx7 or not to sell?

So. I've come to the huge decision right now of whether or not I want to sell my 86 rx7. I have fallen madly in love with this car even though I literally have only driven it home and her beauty has been hidden from the rest of the world except my driveway. Here's the story.

I bought her April 11th for $700 in a town about 30 min away from where I live. This car needed some work but hell, she made it home with basically no suspension and no rear brakes. Oh and Like 207,XXX miles on the original engine! Now at one point this amazes me, the fact that this engine has lasted this long tells me a pretty good sign that it has been decently taken care of but at the same time who knows, it could die tomorrow.

Here is what she looks like the day I bought her.(and how she used to run)

Now since I've owned her I've installed all new shocks and struts and fixed some minor things that needed fixing but, literally the day I finished my shocks a new issue happened and its a big one.. Just watch this link and you'll see what I'm talking about.(Note, Straight pipes with no mufflers that explains the exhaust sounds)
I honestly still am not for sure what the issue is. I believe that it's a fuel issue but I'm not entirely sure.

Now. I've been thinking and she's going to need a new engine soon. I want to put a s4 T2 engine in but I hear it would be cheaper just to buy an s4 T2 instead. At the same time I want to fix this car. I want her back on the road like she used to be. I want to two years down the line be able to say that I have entirely rebuilt this car. I mean she needs alot of work like a whole new tune which I dont even know if I can do that on the stock ecu(please someone clear this up for me) plus there's rust underneath her that I need to fix. Not to mention the engine has 207,XXX MILES!! What do you guys think? This car has gotten me hooked on rotary engines and I love it so much but I'm split thinking that I may be in a little over my head. Note I'm 17 working a $8 and hour job. I just want to hear everyone's opinion.

If it is not your daily driver, just keep it and take your time. You are obviously attached to your car. I'm almost done building mine and it has taken 4 years so far. It's a project. Don't expect it to be done right away.

As far as your job is concerned, try to focus on a career. Certain careers require schooling. Others require experience. Know what type of job requires which and get started. I wish I knew this when I was in high school. The job field I am trying to get into requires a portfolio of work I have done. College was a waste of time for me. When your out of high school, its much tougher to gain portfolio pieces while holding a normal 40-75 hour a week job.

You can not tune the stock ecu. Rtek sells modified stock ecu's to allow you with a palm pilot. It might be ok for tuning a stock or mildly tuned car, but it's functions are limited and I would recommend investing in a stand alone edu. Spend money once, not twice.

^ I agree with above. Poster. If its not your dd or if you have another car to use (mom or dads) I would take my time and give the whole car a makeover.

The job thing hurts but you will find something better...I dropped out of hs after the first quarter of my freshman year and I've managed to become an industrial mechanic...with no schooling...just on the job training. College is good for people who can be patiennt or focus only on one goal..not really my thing.

Even when I was making 7.50 an hour though I still managed to save and do stuff to my car..just takes time. In regards to the engine issues, being that it has moderately high mileage I would find a n/a s5 engine and swap that for now. It would hopefully give you a good engine to use while you source the turbo stuff

Thanks guys I think I'm going to do what you say. I actually just found a car exactly like mine that the guy is parting out so I'm going to buy some parts off of him that I need. And yeah I'm going into my senior year of high school, I'm wanting to do something with computers as I have always been extremely good with computers and that has been my passion my thing is I'm not sure how to get a job in that field. I don't know how to get into companies.

adjust your idle speed to 800,adjust the TPS and put a Rad fan shroud back on that thing or the cooling system is just useless.

I've been adjusting the idle speed I do need to mess with the TPS and I didn't take the shroud off it came like that due to the aftermarket radiator so I'm going to get an electric fan.

Might be a good idea to do a compression check. That does not sound like its running right at all. either blown, isnt sparking right, or the injector is clogged.

Okay so I just got my car running decently again after adjusting my TPS. I ran it up and down my street about 5 times and then after jumping on the gas in first gear getting it up to 3k rpm it died and ti wont start up again. It will crank but it's not starting. Any ideas?

Same field I'm getting into. You can't get experience without experience. Its a catch 22. It's all about a portfolio in that field. Narrow down what exactly you want to do with computers. If it's IT, try interning as an assistant. Take the cisco course. Help network your school. If its programming, take online courses. Make a few computer or web applications. Get work done towards your goal every day after school. Once you have something to show an employer, maybe you will get hired. I'm working on finishing a couple great pieces myself and hopefully I'll have something to show within the next year.

Alright guys so I found this video where this is exactly what is happening with my car. I know it's an FD but engine wise it's doing the exact same thing so I'm guessing it could be the fuel injectors because that's what they're saying it might be in the comments. Mine starts up real hard like his does and then dies.

I would say keep the car. As you already invested time and money in it, build it up little by little. It might take months but I'm pretty sure the result is rewarding. Your first will always be your first, now when I look back, I kinda wish that I should have never sold my first 7.... But yeah, focus on one thing buddy. Good luck on your career by the way!

Thank you 2pacx. Yeah after talking to my buddy that not only helped me buy the car but also who has helped me with everything I've done to it. We are deciding to keep the car and build it back up. Little by little like you all are saying.
