Theres a small panel on the inside of the car near the door opening in the rear open up the case and check to see if the wires are connected.

The power seat belts are covered under a recall from Mazda. Take it to any Mazda dealer, and the HAVE to fix it for free. Unless, I'm sure, that the previous owner tampered with it. Do a search and you will find more info on the recall.

OK, look at the B pillar of the car, whichever side is having the problem - or both if niether of them work. There is a panel that you can take out. First step is to take out that panel and look for a pair of wires connected together. If they aren't connected, connect them. If they are connected, it doesn't hurt to check the 30A belt fuse located in the fuse panel by the driver's left foot.

If the wires are connected, the fuse is there and the seatbelt still doesn't retract on its own, take it to Mazda. The only sensor involved is the door switch so that the system knows whether the door is open or closed.

i looked back there and hooked up the wire, but there's a cable that I THINK does the retracting and it's not connected to the spooler thing. also...when i first hooked it up, it would sound right for a minute then it would make a popping sound and the spooler thing would bulge every time it popped.
