Seat Compartments?

Just wondering if anyone else had thought about this and took the time to rip apart an old seat to see if it was possible. I was thinking that the space that your *** is actually on would make a nice compartment that you could pull up towards the front of the car and store whatever in there. Anyone attempt this before? Does it ruin any safety functions of the seat, or is there even any room down there?

The seat foam extends to the metal. You would have to remove foam and or cut metal to do anything like what you suggest.

What do you mean the seat foam extends to the metal? Could I remove a lot of the foam and put a sheet of something to keep support, but remove the foam under that for a compartment space? What kind of metal would I need to cut into? Any kind of reinforcing metal that couldn't be worked around, or just some crap to hold the foam and stuff in?

As I recall, there is a solid metal 16-18 awg plate under the foam, that runs the whole length of the seat cushion. To get any room to do something like the FD in FATF you would need to cut that metal out.

The foam is less than 2-3 inchs deep, so there would not be any advantage to removing it.

You'd have to poke your head under the seat and look, but I would guess maybe 3 inchs, between the seat bottom and the floor of the car.
