(searched) Weird mis/backfiring problem

*edit* almost forgot, 87 GXL stick.

This started today. Whenever im decelrating in gear , i can hear the car misfire a lot. But only when im decelrating. It still makes as much power as before when im on the gas, and the idle isn't any lumpier that usual. What could it be?

Oh yeah, i do have a hole in my exhaust somewhere, but it never seemed to be a problem until now.

Probably a bad ACV valve. No air getting into the exhaust ports on decen, hence the afterburn.

exhaust leak

You had better check out that exhaust leak. My y-pipe was disconnected from the cats and i had a horrible backfiring on deceleration and any time i would rev it high and then let the engine decel on it's own. Had the muffler shop weld it in place an now i have this low end torque stuff. It's really nice. Backpressure in an NA is a necessity. So yeah. Exhaust leak.
