Searched but still need help setting up TPS
ok. so i did build the 2 LED TPS tool i set my tps just wight but if i tap the throttle just a little it falls out of adjustment, i can wiggle the whole Assembly, has any else seen this problem and is there rebuild kit for this? it seams like the throttle never sits in the same location, i man 3 times out of 10 only one light stays on after pressing the gas and letting go. so im thinking that my car is running funny cause the tps is never adjusted properly. any feed back would be cool thanks for your help.

The engine has to stay fully HOT when you set the TPS due to the water thermowax device.
A better way to set it is to look at the output of the TPS which should be approx one volt dc when set properly. Fully hot engine.
Your profile says you have a 1985. You on the right forum???????? I'm talking series four na or turbo car.

You can also use the resistance between the top and right terminals with the car off... should be around 1kOhm.
See this thread, especially Aaron Cake's reply, post #4, if you haven't already.
If you're not really gentle when you turn the screw, I've found you can end up with the TPS sitting somewhere else when you finish turning it. Try not to apply any forward force to the screw when you turn it. Use a big, fat flathead screwdriver that sits snugly in the screw slot.
It can take a couple of tries to get right. Good luck.

Backprobe the green/red wire on the EM harness side of the TPS elect plug with THE CONNECTOR CONNECTED TOGETHER. With a fully hot engine, it should read approx one volt dc.
If you blip the throttle and it changes MEANINGFULLY, then you might check to see why your throttle linkage isn't returning to the same place each time. Check that Dashpot to see if it's sticking. It acts as a damper when the throttle is shut off real quick.
IF you read something like 0.95 or 1.05 vdc, that is well with in the spec of one volt dc APPROX. Talking NARROW range TPS.
1985 Turbo 13B 2.................I don't remember that model, but then I don't know a GXL from a XBY.
