sealing AN fittings?
sealing AN fittings?
im putting together my new fuel system, and was wondering if any sealer is recommended for An fittings, or shoudl i just make sure they are godo and tight?
also what is the best way to go from the SS lines into the hardlines from the tank?

DO NOT overtighten the AN fittings...you can damage them and they will leak.
What size SS hose are you using? I used -6 and it just slipped right over the existing hardline, and I used a worm clamp to clamp it down.

Trending Topics
1) Flare the hard line.
2) Weld/braze an AN flare onto the hard line.
3) Clamp the braided line directly to the hard line (yuck).
AND
4) Use a 8mm (stock hardline size) to "something" self flaring tube connector.
When doing option 4) make sure the connector is harder than the tube you are crimping ( I bough a stainless Swagelok connector) and make sure you have cut the stock tube end square and have a straight unmolested section of tube to connect to. A high quality connector (like Swagelok) that has a good 2 piece ferrule design will eliminate the chance of leaks.
I bought Swagelok's SS-8M0-7-6, which is 8mm tube connector to 3/8" female NPT. I would prefer, but couldn't find a plain metric tube to -an tube connector.

The AN fittings themselves are self sealing....
But you may want to utilize some teflon tape on the M12 and M14 adaptor fittings on the ends of the fuel rail........

On the fuel rail fittings, use Dowty seals instead (and Teflon tape if you are very paranoid). Dowty seals work quite well and make for easy disassembly (no tape or sealant mess).

Nice!
i wouldn't flare the original fuel pipes, makes for more possibility of a leak point since you are stretching the metal and can possibly put hairline cracks in it hard to see visibly. nothing wrong with slipping it over the already flared pipe end and clamping it down IMO.
