se vs. '91 coupe

I was wondering what would the race be like between a '85 gsl-se with wired open 5th and 6th ports and a/c taken out vs. a '91 coupe with racing beat exhaust HKS intake in the 1/8 mile?

Drivers being equal, the FC ,hands down. He's got ~25HP on you stock, plus the exhaust and intake...

but wouldnt the se having heavier rotors and wired open ports help the torque which its only an 1/8 race have him really close to me?

Well, the GSl-SE has 133ft/lbs @2750rpm stock. Wiring open the ports actually decreases this lower rpm torque. (it is arguable on how much it hurts, but it definately doesnt help). The -SE still has the stock ~135HP. Lets say it weighs in at ~2550lbs (2590 stock-A/C components) Now the FC has 160HP stock, and 140ft/lbs torque. Now the stock weight of the '91 5-speed coupe is 2787. Lets say he picked up 10HP from his mods (conservative number, its possably more). Now the P/W ratio of the FC would be 16.39. Now the P/W of the -SE is 18.88. Now I know there is more to a race than power to weight , but it is a good indicator. The FC probably wont have to shift out of 2nd in the 1/8, whereas the -SE may have to shift to 3rd, which could also hurt the times. The -SE has LSD, whereas the FC probably doesnt, but I dont see that being all that much of an issue.

Heavier rotors does not help torque, it hurts avaliable horsepower, jsut liek a heavy flywheel.

and wired open ports hurts torque and doesnt improve hp over stock, functoning ports

I vote the FC
