The N/A and TII transmissions have a different sized output shaft and spine count.

like I mentioned in your other thread if you try to install the TII rear end the NA tranny and and driveshaft will be the worng lengths and won't match up. so, unless you wanna do some custom drilling of the rear-end pinion flange, get a custom driveshaft, or rip apart both rear-ends and do a massive differential swap, the I suggest just swapping in the drive-line you already have from clutch back.

if you already have the parts and do the labor yourself it should be smooth and it won't cost anything. other ways are possible but will take time and possibly labor costs and might not be as good/strong.

I say, if you have all the parts, just swap em all. at least thats what I did.

good luck

well, that was my original plan, just to swap the whole drive train.. i was prepping to drop the transmission from the turboII today and when i took out the mag. drain plug, there was soo much metal on it, i know what you're thinking 'that's normal wear and tear' but there were chucks as well when i checked the fluid that was drained out, not big ones, but enough chucks/shaving to fill a coke bottle top, and that's just the stuff i found in the drain basin. but i guess you're right i should just go ahead with the drive line swap, and hope for the best as far as the tranny goes... thanks for your help again.

Well there could still be hope yet, the first time I did an oil change on my N/A trans I found a chunck of metal (as well as the many smaller ones) too big to even fit through the oil drain hole, sitting just above it, couldn't get it out.

No idea what it was, but I filled it back up with fluid drove it for another few months shifting perfectly fine appart from the odd small crunch until I took it down to the drag strip after i'd slapped a turbo on my N/A engine. By the end of the night it was pretty stuffed to say the least but im sure if the engine was still N/A it would've lasted muuuch longer.

good luck with the tranny, hopefully with some good gear oil in there it'll be fine.

thanks for all the input guys, i've gone ahead and dropped bother trannies, just quit for the night (untill i get bored again) dropping trannies in the dark isnt the easiest or safest thing in the world, but hey, im ready to get them swapped tomorrow, and might even get my complete swap done, front brakes/suspension from t2 to se, drive line from t2 to se, and rear end, also going to work on some smaller mods, cruise control, and maybe some fuel pump/injector things ive been reading about.

thanks again,
alan
