Do what I did and go to advanced auto parts and just buy a new OEM caliper. You might have to send it back a few times but it is worth it, they do a good job and it is like 90 bucks for the caliper

Do you have the 4-piston or single piston?

N/M, I looked at your profile. Was this 290 from a mechanic or did you do it yourself? The part should be less than $60.

ahh last time I checked the brakes on my mazda looked exactly like the brakes on my ford probe. Lets not talk about the ford/mazda thing, but rather that any decent mechanic will be able to work on these brakes the same way a fords brakes. BUT he will charge you more because the mazda has a rotary engine (which, ifyou notice has nothing to do with the brakes. it doesn't matter.)

Eitehr way, I got quoted $86 per caliper from napa. I rebuilt my rear calipers, but would *NEVER* do it again.. I would find it well worth the $86 per caliper to get rebuilt warenteed ones. Anyhow. The mechanic is ripping you either way. If you're mechanicaly inclinded, do it yourself.

But Don't to what i did: Strip the mount bolt to the rotor. oops Have to dremel that pos to a sware bolt so i can get it out with a wrench. Goodluck.
