Focus on the bezel around the license plate. Difference will jump out at you.

Vert tails are shorter, coupe tails are longer. Coupe tails go all the way to the license plate, vert ones have a center piece. Just google pics of the verts and coupes.

Look at where the key for the trunk goes.

if you want to put coupe lights in you lose the keyhole.
You also have to trim some metal out where it mounts for clearance. You will need a complete set of coupe lights and center ( obviously )

check thread, I went from s4 vert to s5 vert then to s5 coupe https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-non-technical-pictures-198/s4-s5-smoked-clear-coated-vert-tail-swap-770618/page2/

the mounting holes are all the same but instead of cutting out metal i find it easier to take a dead blow hammer and give 1 area a few taps in to clear the bezel for the reverse light holder

mounting holes are not all the same

when putting coupe lights in the vert you have to cut metal, no banging will do

This thread was definitely helpful for me as well.

Is the trunk keyhole on the s4 coupe cable driven? I'm wondering if it would be possible to run s5 coupe tail lights and relocate the keyhole to the s5 spot.?

Who ever made the s5 tails needs to start remanufacture of them. They truly are beautiful.

trunk key on a vert is mechanical linkage, not cable
centers on vert lights are not series specific
