S5 tps readings. Codes 12 and 18
Ive been getting codes 12 and 18 for about 4 months now. All this started happening right after i put a new reman alternator on the car. I was able to clear the codes the first time with a month and a half without codes, then they came back. I cleared them again for about another month. Cleared Them again and swapped to another used tps. They stayed cleared until about two weeks ago and now they will not clear anymore. The car is in constant limp mode. The bad limp mode where your throttle input is preset to 20% open and bucks and snorts and the idle bounces like crazy... Not to mention it causes the power brakes to fail which is important to me.
That describes the main problem. Now onto my volt meter readings.
Both sets of tps's off the car read 0.4-4.9 ohms on narrow(bottom plunger) and 0.2-4.4 ohms on full (top plunger). Not perfect results but still should be usable since in the idle position it should self correct regardless of iffy full closed readings. Full open appears to be in spec right?
Now comes the wierd part. With them plugged into the car and mounted they read 1.1 at idle position. 0.53 at wot and 0.41 at full close on narrow. Full range reads 1.3 at idle, 0.52 at wot, and 0.07 ohms at full close.
All wires have contenuety to their appropriate ecu pin. Although on my meter it reads 188 ohms whenever i check for shorts between the brown white and brown black wires. Regardless of if the tps is plugged in or not. It normally either reads full contenuety or nothing. Could there be a bad ground or crossed wire? Or is it the tps for sure?
