S5 TII Wheels Powdercoated

Does anyone have pix of the Series 5 TII wheels (spiderwebs) powdercoated/painted? I'm curious to see how they look in black or any color for that matter.

Thanks all,
Brian

rarest RX has white powder-coated ones on his GTUs. They look REAAALLLL nice. I'd do it but I don't think it would look good on a white car.

They both look very nice. May just have to photochop my car with white, gunmetal gray and black. I'll post soon.

Thanks,
Brian

rotary racer, I might get mine powder-coated after seeing yours. I didn't think it would look good on a white car, but I was wrong. How much does something like that cost, and is there any way to make the center caps match?

Depends on the shop that does it mine was $40 a wheel if I remember correctly. Yep cleaning them is hard some times. You can pain the center caps but most of the time it does not match and looks fake just leave them off that is what Kevin and I did.

Yo,

Check out:

and...

Pretty good shots of our cars and wheels. I just learned that I can clean the powdercoat with McQuiers Instant wheel cleaner...they're pretty easy to keep clean now.

Oh, and I have access to a steam pressure washer. *grin*

Let me know if you have any specific questions, or need a good side shot of my car w/rims.

My hand cramps after scrubbing the first wheel...

Mine have that "natural" gunmetal look. It's called brake dust.

Can anyone do the normal GXL wheels in photoshop painted in gold (not a bright one, kinda like the rays engineering 6 spoke wheel) and gunmetal? Thanks ahead of time .

Oh yea on a red car if at all possible.

So, I have an S5 TII with the stock wheels. The finish on them looks worn. What do you guys think my best option is as far as price and looks? The car has a new factory white paint job. I am considering having them refinished, painted, powdercoated? I don't know how much any of this is...

On a separate note, why is a powdercoating harder to clean than anything else?

I am what I eat. *wink*

With the stock wheel color you don't notice the brake dust...but when they're white you'll see the dust in all the nooks and crannies.

Luckily with the Instant Wheel cleaner and the steam cleaner...it's not as horrible as it was.

$40 was said to be the price of powdercoating wheels for S5 TII...is that the norm? What do you guys think about gunmetal gray powdercoat on white TII?

The price depends on what shop you have it done at. Most of the time the colors will all be the same price. Unless you pick some super bling bling color that has a ton of flake or pearl in it that would probably be more.

Well, I am glad that you posted an opinion, even though you think it will be "hideous". So, you think white is definitely the way to go? What about black?
