s5 tans bolt upo to a s4?

just like the title says. will an S5 trans bolt up to a S4 motor?

the transmission on my project ruck started making some pretty good growling noises and i think the easiest route to go is to drop the whole thing and replace it. i found a good trans cheap but the guy isn't sure what year its from. is there and details on the housing that would tell me what year its from? or does it even matter?

any help is appreciated guys.

thanks.
mike

Cross member mounting on the transmission itself is what is different. If you have a custom S4 one for your truck, it's not going to bolt up to an S5 transmission. The y-blocks sit differently.

thanks for chiming in, Rocket.

that's what i figured. but since the mount on my truck is custom, it doesn't hurt too bad to that i'd have to modify it to make it work. it is good to hear that i at least i have something on the case that's different, that i can compare to know for sure before i buy it. at $100 i can't pass it up.

thanks for the education, guys.

Yep. Cross-member and and maybe the Y mount. not sure. I did a s4 swap onto my S5 engine and I needed a different mount which was the cross-member and the Y mount.
