are s5 and s4 tII trans the same?

are s5 and s4 tII trans the same?

I have an 88 turbo II and need a new transmission. Im looking for a new trans and have found a few s5 and wanted to know if this will bolt up and work on my car. I tried looking on the forums but wasnt able to find anything...ill keep looking., but hopefuly some can answer this question asap. Thanks

Yes it will bolt up but you would have to have all s4 mounts, slave, shift fork, clutch and keep your s5 flywheel i believe.

If you want to put the S5 tranny into a S4 engine and car, you need only the S5 transmission mount. The reason is that the S5 is this style \____/ and the S4 is _____ at the rear transmission housing. The flywheel, fork, release bearing, etc, from the S4 will works on a S5 tranny

I put an S5 tranny on an S4 a few months ago and had no problems whatsoever. Bolted right up and ran great.

and the 5th gear ratio is higher in the S5 trans.

Everything will bolt up.
