S5 NA runs too rich I think

It gives me headachs.

I premix and I don't have any cats, but I have the "back pressure hose" and the air pump working.

Of cours, stock ECU.

First, is it normal without the converters to run rich (and it smells alot) or there is something wrong with my engine ?

If it is normal what can I do ? Put the catalytic converters back or something else ???

Thanks

First of all, 7s all run rich, but the smell that you're getting from having no cats in the car, does not mean it is running any more rich than normal. You need an air/fuel guage to tell that. It just means you're not burning the fuel vapor that makes its way through the exhaust system.

If you can't handle the smell of exhaust when you're sitting at idle, then put a high flow main cat in, and it'll go away.

A dead giveaway for running over rich is a black rear bumper. If this is happening, try replacing the O2 sensor. That's what worked for me when I had an S5.

Sunday, I'm supposed to instal an air/fuel ratio gauge... so I'll see.

I'll instal an high flow main cat. And if I run too rich, I'll replace my O2 sensor.

Would ajusting my TPS with the LED lamps would help ? I adjuted it with the Ohmeter, but not with the lamps... Anyway, nothing to loose to try to adjust it with the LEDs...

Thanks guys !

You wont know if you're running too rich if your O2 sensor is fubar. Its a narrow band, not a wideband.

Spec.
