S5 NA motor -- part or sell complete?

Just curious of your thoughts on this... I have an S5 N/A motor that I will no longer need. It smokes on startup but seems to run okay. Pulled from my 200k mi 'vert, so LOTS of miles. Wondering if I'd be ahead to just sell the whole motor or part it out?

Don't really know how much these things are worth either way, but betting that most folks aren't going to want to buy a whole motor, pay shipping, AND drop money on the rebuild -- for an N/A. So my first bet is to just part it.

Although it would be a great learning experience, I'm just not looking forward spending the time tearing it apart and selling it piece by piece.

You're not gonna get top dollar for a 200,000 mile motor that smokes - maybe $200 or so. The rotors are typically in high demand, however - the higher-compression NA rotors are desireable.

Heck, post up a for sale ad and see what you get. You'll have to ship it via freight or have someone come pick it up - might also want to post in the local forum to see if someone nearby wants it.

Yeah, and that's exactly what I'm asking I guess. I know I won't get top dollar for the motor, so do you think it's worth more than $200 to part it and sell it separately...

*might* be - individual motor parts are tricky to sell. I've had poor reponse in the past trying to sell parts. Much easier to sell a motor.

The rotors will likely be easy to sell, but the rest won't be. I'd take a crack at selling the core first.

Hm, if you dont mind me borrowing this thread for a second...

What would be a good asking price for a 15k miles rebuilt, streetport s5 motor, with a 5k rebuilt tranny, and a 15k light flywheel?

Im trying to decide wether to sell the motor, and see if I can't put something else in there, or just sell the whole thing and try a different car.....

I've got the complete motor. Pulled it in running condition from my 'vert less than a year ago.

I'm in Wichita.
