its VERY easy, all you need to do is bend the vertical metal bars inward behind the license plate. other than that everything fits in fine

It's even easier to gangster S4 tails into your S5.

You did not search.

Copied straight from the FAQs:

Can I use a 89-91 (S5) tail light on my 86-88 (S4)?
Yes with minor modifications to the body of the 86-88.
Here is a link on converting: http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/taillights.htm

the lights will fit.you just have to Cut a Bit of Steel where the Center Light bulbs go into the Rear of the car..Nothing real "big"..Suggestion: take the old S4's out..put the s5's up against the Car,and take a peak,to see where the metal need to be taken out...If you don't Feel Like doing that,Then BY all means, come on Down to See me..I'll do it for ya.No problem..
