s5 interior door panels on a s4?
First off could someone tell me if an s5 door panel with a manual window crank had the 5 1/4 speaker pod in the lower front portion? if so does anyone know if that door skin would matchup with the connection points of the s4 model? ie: dash vents, screw holes, door latch, window seals, door pulls, and same size parameters? i would like to install s5 door panels with the speaker pods in my non power equiped 87 na. my attempts at installing speakers in the door stunk! i need to find a better way! if you have a good install, please pm me with a photo or write up! thanks for your help!

The S4 and S5 panels are the same shape and mounting points, the speaker location is the big difference.
Mid 88 model year, mazda began phazing in the sheet metal on the door with the lower speaker hole. If you have an 86 or 87 or early 88, you do not have that hole and you wish to put a speaker there, you will need to pop rivet in an aluminum panel and then cut the speaker hole in that lower location.

be careful before you go buying replacements for the 4 inch dashers...some higher end 4 inchers have too deep of a magnet..it will take you some time to get the drivers side to fit..there is a brace in there..if you have a dremel it should be easy to cut it away( or manipulate it to fit) i havent invested in a dremel yet...i only have a hammer..and you need to be like a surgeon with a hammer to not damage your dash.

i bought some JL 4's and they fit good, and sound great. you gotta get rid of all the crap (amp/plastic paneling) on the passenger side though because it interfears with the quality of the sound.
soon im going to add some JL 6.5's in the shock towers custom fitted... and i already have a W3V2 10" sub, it should sound real nice when all done.
