S5 ECU problems, NO MIL?

Bone stock S5 TII, won't start, getting no fuel or spark, every switch, motor, solenoid under the hood is going crazy, constantly clicking and buzzing with the key in the ON position and when I jump the ECU to get codes....the MIL goes out...and stays out.
WTF.

My friend made that post for me....here is the deal.

OK....this is weird as ****. I was trying to install a CD player into my car. I just bought a new Kenwood Deck, and some connectors that allow it to connect to the factory harness without having to splice into the wires. I clip them in, hook up the antenna and then go to ground the black ground wire. It makes a pop sound....and the CD player won't work. I mess with it some more and it tells me some odd Malfunction message....I get tired of messing with it, and unhook all the wiring and just have no stereo. Then I go to start the car which was running fine...and nothing. When I turn the key to the on position, I hear all these noises in the engine bay so I have someone else come turn it to the on position so I can be in front of the car and hear the sounds again. Every sensor, buzzer, solenoid, connector, etc...all sound like they are clicking, popping, buzzing, crackling, etc....all of them. I try and check the MIL and I hook up a connector between the diagnosis port and the negative and nothing...no blinks, flashes, etc..nothing. I unhook the wire from the battery and the CEL light comes on and stays on. I hook the wire back up to the battery and it goes back off like it is supposed to. I unhook it again...same thing.

So I am beginning to think my stereo connectors are wired wrong from where I bought them and that it sent a 12v signal to the ECU and fried it. I can't think of anything else that could cause all this **** to happen all at once. I tried to jump the car and still nothing....it turns over faster and all...but still nothing. I checked all my fuses to see if maybe I just blew a fuse, nope...all of them are fine.

Could it have something to do with the Security system on these cars? I am new to FC's and all...I just sold my FD and bought this 1990 TII, everything was working fine, but it had no stereo....so that is why I bought all this **** and was doing what I was. Now, I don't care about the stereo...I just want my car back the way it was.

What do you guys think? I am open to anything...I just want it to run again.

My mind says it is either:
1. ECU
2. Security **** killing my car
3. EGI Fuse....I checked it, but maybe, who knows?

But how would a fuse or a security system make all that noise in the engine bay? I am leaning towards the ECU mostly since it would explain alot of that engine **** if it was messed up and was surged. Is there any way to check it? To see if it is good or not?

Thanks,
Scott

I suggest you get out a DMM and a copy of the wiring diagram for your year/model and start checking inputs/outputs at the ecu, to the coils, etc. Nothing you did at the stereo should have jack to do with the ecu.

BTW, double check the 15A ENGINE fuse inside the car, it is a common culprit to non-starts caused by electrical problems.

Next time disconnect the battery before you attempt to install a stereo? I'd suggest checking all your fuses.

Check the ENGINE fuse in the crew compartment after you check the EGI COMP and EGI INJ fuses in the engine bay. The ENGINE fuse will do you in in a heatbeat.

If those are good....check for 12v on the black/yellow wire at the small, two wire, white connector at the LEAD coil assy. No 12v equals no spark.

For a idea of what the ignition/coil schematic looks like just go to the search engine on this site and type in for the KEYWORD... Black/Yellow and then HAILERS for the name. I've jpg'd a number of schematics for that diagram. Like on this thread https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...black%2Fyellow

Probably just a popped ENGINE fuse in the crew compartment.
