S5 Coupe Tail Lights on an S4 Vert (please no flames)

Let me start by saying that I have searched and have found a wealth of information on the subject. I have looked at Aaron Cakes http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/taillights.htm good write-up on the install but I still am in the dark.

The problem is my searches have resulted in some saying, yes coupe lights will fit the verts with some minor body mods and others say that for the swap you absolutley need S5 Convertible lights.

Please can anyone give me a definate answer and if the coupes can be fit to a vert what is involved in the "body mod" or is it simply what Aaron Cake has noted on his writeup.

Thanks

I believe that the key hole is the only real issue. If you are brave enough, you can just drill a hole in the lens for the key hole and it should all work. I might be doing this as well since S5 vert lights are getting harder to find and more expensive.

Oh well, call a locksmith, $75 later you're in the trunk and replacing the cable.

I meant that meaning if you do away with the keyhole and your cable breaks you will have a fun time trying to get the trunk open

if the cable breaks and the keyhole is still there no problems and no need to call a locksmith

The problem with S5 lights into a S4 period, is one of the holes in the body (you'll figure it out when you try to install them) has to be hammered in some for them to fit... If you use a S5 Vert center panel they will work if I'm not mistaken...
