S5 Convertible weight???

OK, I was searching, and it answered the question that I was searching for.... But as usual it just left me with more questions that the search didn't answer...

Anyways, I was reading a thread, and someone said that the 1990-1991 Verts were the heaviest of all Rx-7's. What was their acctual wieght? And what made them so heavy?

Also the person said they were the worst years for the vert. Why is this?

Thanks for any help!

I would imagine that it would have more support in the body (to make up for the missing traditional roof) plus the retractable roof, which would make it heftier.

I'm wondering this too. Has anyone weighed the car themselves?

How bought weighing it for corner-weighting? Where are the usual inequalities?

3000... That's not as bad as I thought! I thought the lighter verts were like 3200 anyways.... Hummm, OK I'm happy now, it's still much lighter than the supra

Can't wait till I get it!!!

verts are pretty heavy compared the the coupes, i would like the know the corner weights though. compared to my s5 coupe the vert does have some advantages, it is more neutral at its cornering limits the rear does not tend to swing out like the coupes. i guess with all the weight of the top mechinicals and stuff in front of the rear wheels that the vert might have a better front and rear weight ratio. this is all what ive felt on my own so i may be totally off, but this is what it seems like to me. also i havent driven my coupe in 5 months...

wow, that's quite a bit up front. although when I'm done with my s5 t2 vert I think 80lbs in subs in the back will make up for it

The airbag verts have a bit more weight as well, so that might be the difference you're seeing.

The whole airbag assembly (Computer, sensors, assembly and all) are quite heavy in most cars.

You're right. I forgot to tell the rest of the story...

1750 + 1980 - 680 = 3050

You mean a 1JZ-GTE??? I believe so...

Anyways NOOOOO. The only motor this car may ever see other than the S5 NA that is in it, is a S5 13BT!!!

No more of those motor swaps, to much to time for the gains!!!
