s5 automatic transmission; where to find a torque converter?

I've searched the forum, searched the web, searched all the catalogs at the parts store I work at, and I'm empty handed.....
Does anybody know where I can find one at or a torque converter that is interchangable with the mazda one?
Please help, I haven't bought the car yet and I won't if I've got to buy a whole new auto tranny just to replace the converter.

I've yet to try a dealer. Checked junk yards nearby, craigslist, etc. etc. I'll call up the dealer but if its going to be expensive I'll just look for an rx7 elsewhere I guess.

its probably not the problem anyways... i would wait to get the car, there is a 90% chance the transmission is done.

kind of like when they say the engine just needs a seal...

<_< Do the manual swap, should be very easy if you can source an S5 manual transmission [Y-bracket bolts to the trans. diagonally]
Two pieces of angle iron with two holes in each, and some misc crimps and spades to get the starter and reverse lights setup.

I've got two 5 speeds at the house, 1s5 and 1s4, but I was dumb and didn't get the pedals out of it.... I heard they are needed..

I am afraid to buy it and then have to sink 200-300 dollars in to it before I can drive it.
But hey..... I've got my 18 speed for backup!

i worked at Mazda dealerships off and on since 1997, and except for the 2005+ mpv's we sold 1 torque converter.

you could however walk from one side of the building to the other walking on nothing but new transmissions...

get the clutch pedal, and plan on doing the swap
