S4 vs S5 turbo manifold

whats the deal with the two manifolds and why does everyone want the s5? I took both the manifolds down to a local turbo builder for a friend, and he said hell just modify the s4(take out the twinscroll flap) and it would actually flow more. We got it back a week ago and with the flap removed its definately larger inside with a more direct flow to the turbine. Id like to hear what you guys with experience have to say on this.

You need to understand the advantages of a true divided turbo exhaust system to realize the difference. If you've ever driven both types, then it'll be obvious also.

Power delivery kicks in earlier and smoother.

The fully divided manifold does flow better. The transition from the manifold into the two scrolls isn't particularly smooth, so there's some loss of energy there. Keeping the exhaust pulses separate means they strike the turbine blades with more force. The dual wastegate is also much better than the single.

it's the S5 turbo everyone wants more so then the manifold... but both turbo / manifold must be used together. so you need the S5 manifold with the S5 turbo.
