NY s4 vs s5 TII tranny(shifter location)

I'm going to install a s4 TII tranny and LSD into my s5 NA car. so I got a problem. I have an damaged s5 transmission laying around so I was comparing it to my s4 TII tranny. It seems that the s5 tranny has the shifter a couple of inches higher then the s4 TII tranny. What do you guys recommend I do? I was thinking if someone had a junk s5 TII tranny for sale I can just replace the shifter part of the tranny. I mean what other options do I have?

The shifters should be in the same location. What kind of damage is done to the S5 one? That could contribute to parts moving around.

Internal damage. Nothing pertaining to the housings. What makes you say s4 and s5 have the same EXACT transmission?

Only thing I can think of, the transmission crossmembers are different between S4 and S5, maybe that is causing it to sit differently. When swapping transmissions between series, you need to use the crossmember that matches the trans. Other than that, I can't think of any reason for the shifters to be in different locations

Well from what I observe, if you stand the trannies up from the bellhousing and you compare them, on the s4 and s5 the distance from the bellhousing to the driveshaft entrance is the same; but the distance from the bellhousing to the shifter is NOT the same, off by a couple of inches.

Then one of the transmissions is not an FC, as all the FC transmission have the same shifter location.
Post some pictures and let the experts decide.
