S4 vs. S5 intercooler + heat wrap

S4 vs. S5 intercooler + heat wrap

I have a stock turbo S5 TII with the stock TMIC. I bought a new intercooler pipe a while back and it came with a "heat wrapped" /sticky foil tape substance plastered along the bottom of the intercooler. This unit is from a s4 also.

So first, does anyone know if there is a difference between the s4 and s5 intercoolers? Usually S5 stuff is more efficient but they look identical.

And second, is this "heat wrap" going to do anything worthwhile?

What are the opinions/ educated guesses/ facts, thanks.

I put shiny stuff on the bottom as a Heat Reflector to try and cut down on the heatsoak that the engine is doing to the IC. Couldn't tell if it made a difference or not. I think the IC's are the same.

the s4 and s5 intercoolers are different. i believe its the size of the inlet

S4 and S5 intercoolers are similar, but not identical. The S5 gradually expands in size across the front whereas the S4 just sorta... pops up to a bigger size. The S5 is a better flowing, and slightly better designed unit.
