S4 Vert Cruise Control working intermittently
My 88 S4 Vert (35k miles) main cruise control button works just fine... but for some reason the 'set' button seems to only work once in a blue moon. 99% of the time it does nothing...
I'm pulling that switch out anyways to replace the wiper relay... is it possible something is wrong with the cruise switch in there too -- or is it more likely somewhere else? Any ideas would be much appreciated just so that I don't have to pull that switch out more than once.

When you pull the switch out, look at the back of the lever. See the tiny screw and access panel? Say yes.
Put the switch on the table on a clean WHITE rag/cloth. Remove the screw and remove the cover from the lever CAREFULLY so you can see where the parts that fall out went to. If memory serves you can sand the contact with some emery cloth and make it functional again.
It's been years since I did that. The above description is probably 75% correct. I THINK there was a small ball bearing/bee bee that you must watch out for when you disassy the switch.
NOT to be done with the switch in the car.

(its good timing actually because I'm getting my new wiper relay on thursday so I'll be pulling that switch out again to replace the relay... so it'll all be open)
